Four rules cover most of it.

Your score should match your darts.

VenDarts Online relies on players entering their genuine scores. The fact that you enter your own score does not make deliberately entering a different score acceptable.

Genuine mistakes are different. Everyone can press the wrong number or make a scoring error. Where the app provides a way to correct a genuine mistake, use it.

Give us your real nine darts.

VenDarts Online may use a nine-dart average to help understand your normal playing level and support fairer matchmaking.

When setting a nine-dart average, make a genuine attempt and enter the scores you actually throw. Don't deliberately play badly to obtain easier opponents and don't enter inflated scores to make your ability appear higher.

Darts should still be fun.

Friendly banter, celebration, disappointment and competitive conversation are part of darts. We are not trying to remove the personality from the game.

The following is not acceptable:

• threats or intimidation;
• sustained or targeted harassment;
• discriminatory abuse;
• deliberately humiliating or intimidating another player;
• repeatedly contacting or targeting somebody who clearly does not want the interaction.

Remember there's another person watching.

Camera and microphone connectivity exists to make VenDarts Online feel like a real remote darts match.

Do not intentionally transmit:

• sexually explicit material;
• illegal material;
• threatening or seriously abusive behaviour;
• deliberately offensive material targeted at another player;
• private information belonging to somebody else without permission.

Sometimes the internet dies. That's not cheating.

Phones crash. Wi-Fi drops. Connections fail. Real technical problems happen and should not automatically be treated as misconduct.

What isn't acceptable is repeatedly or deliberately leaving matches simply because you are losing, in order to disrupt another player or to manipulate the service.

Don't manipulate the system.

Matchmaking is intended to help real players find genuine opponents.

Do not deliberately:

• manipulate your playing level to obtain easier opponents;
• repeatedly create or abandon matches to disrupt matchmaking;
• use automated tools or scripts against matchmaking;
• exploit bugs to obtain an unfair advantage.

Report genuine problems — not losses.

VenDarts Online is being developed with reporting and moderation features. Where reporting is available, use it for genuine concerns such as deliberate cheating, harassment or seriously inappropriate behaviour.

One bad match doesn't tell the whole story.

Where moderation systems are available, The Ven Group may consider the information available, the seriousness of an incident and patterns of behaviour rather than assuming every report proves wrongdoing.

Depending on the features available and the circumstances, action may include warnings, temporary restrictions, suspensions or permanent restrictions from VenDarts Online.

Serious behaviour may justify stronger action without requiring repeated incidents.

You don't have to play everyone.

VenDarts Online is being developed with player safety and blocking features. Where blocking is available, players may use it to prevent unwanted future interaction with another player.

Blocking and moderation are separate concepts. Choosing not to play somebody again does not automatically mean that person has broken a Community Rule.

Play darts. Don't try to break VenDarts.

Attempts to hack, exploit, overload, interfere with or gain unauthorised access to VenDarts Online, another player's information or The Ven Group systems are prohibited.

If you discover a genuine technical problem, please report it through Support rather than deliberately exploiting it.

Throw your darts. Enter your score. Don't be a nightmare.

VenDarts Online should feel like playing somebody at another board — even if that board happens to be hundreds of miles away.

Play competitively. Have some banter. Celebrate your darts. Just play fairly and remember there's a real person on the other side of the screen.
